It all started In Capetown, South Africa, 1983

Lou Segal went on a trip to the Safaris of South Africa in 1983, seeking relaxation. He ended up learning about a tribal ritual remedy that helped grow thicker, fuller, and stronger hair. He saw how the people of that region had the most beautiful hair. Luxurious, thick, and shiny, he learned that in preparation for certain tribal rituals, this community applied a substance to their scalp and skin. Using this herbal concoction, the tribe was inadvertently giving themselves a highly effective “beauty treatment.”

The beginning

Lou driven by a passion to create a perfect natural blend decided to use his skills as a chemist and pharmacognosist to create a new haircare solution. He created solutions that helped solve, dandruff, hair thinning, and more.

In the 1980's Lou sold his first product to customers in Cape Town, majority of his customers only had positive things to say making Lou realize this had potential.

Moving To Vancouver

Lou and his family moved to Vancouver, Canada, due to political reasons. They had to start their business from the ground up as they couldn’t bring much with them during the move. The father and son team Lou and Darryl Segal founded Herbal Glo in 1986 and with the formulas that had previously worked so well, they started rebuilding their brand. Over time Herbal Glo has started selling around the world, selling to 35 different countries. Darryl Segal the son of Lou Segal has taken over the company and has continued to build on his father's formulas to this day.

Pharmacist Darryl R Segal

Darryl Segal is the co-founder of the Canadian hair care brand Herbal Glo. He started the company in the 90s with the goal of creating natural and effective hair care products that would promote healthy hair growth. Darryl remains the CEO of Herbal Glo, and the company continues to expand its product offerings and distribution channels both domestically and internationally.
